Cantu design has just unveiled a successful mega-yacht concept straight out of a cinephile’s dream.
The epic 328 footer, which bears the name CD100, was initially developed for a discerning movie buff looking for a timeless vessel that fulfilled their love of cinema. As such, the CD100 is much like a floating multiplex designed for showing movies and hosting well-heeled creations.
“The specification called for a yacht on which the owner could entertain guests at various film events around the world such as the Cannes Film Festival,” studio founder and lead designer John Cantu said in a statement.
The exterior of the mega-yacht has a distinctive Art Deco aesthetic and is packed with sleek, modern lines. The displacement hull and superstructure can be fabricated from steel or aluminum, depending on the owner’s wishes. The real star of the CD100, however, is the dazzling interior.
With a width of 49 feet, the ship offers generous living quarters characterized by gangways and curved walls. According to the firm, this makes the journey from one end of the yacht to the other as interesting as possible and avoids the mundane straights. Think of it as a biting thriller rather than a predictable romantic comedy.
The centerpiece is of course a giant cinema located aft of the upper deck that can accommodate a full audience of moviegoers. Forward of the cinema is a square atrium that overlooks the main deck saloon, which features a lavish lounge and grand piano.
Elsewhere on the main deck, there is accommodation for 14 people in two VIP suites, three double cabins and two twin beds, as well as a library, hairdresser and office. Outside there is a swimming pool and outdoor lounge, as well as a garage for toys and annexes.
The lower deck, meanwhile, includes a large wellness center with a gym, massage room, steam room and sauna, changing rooms and a large diving room to store the necessary underwater equipment.
The dedicated owner’s deck was designed for the two big stars of the mega-yacht. It can be isolated from the rest of the yacht and has a private lounge, dining room and bar, as well as an outdoor area with jacuzzi and sun lounger. The owner’s suite is located at the front and includes an office, bathrooms and walk-in closets.
The terrace features a large circular sky lounge and a second swimming pool flanked by sun loungers. Above, the upper deck has an enclosed observation lounge.
Helmed by 30 crew members, the CD100 has an estimated maximum speed of 17 knots and a range of 4,000 nautical miles cruising at 13.5 knots. It also has a helipad to accommodate the comings and goings of A-listers.
This is called a megahit.
